You’re looking for a job for one reason or another. You see an ad pop up, or maybe a random email, inviting you to interview for a job as a travel agent.
And of course in this day and age, who doesn’t want a job that seems fairly easy?
You’re put on a zoom call with a couple of hundred other ‘applicants’. You can of course use the owner’s travel agency license… if you apply for a cert or insurance. And it’s not a one-time fee; it’s easily a hundred dollars. Per month.
Of course, even though you’re paying, you get little to no work. Instead, the owner is walking away with your money.
How to protect yourself
Always research the company before committing to an interview. This is good job advice in general - knowing about a company can also get your foot in the door when it comes to legitimate companies. Always search for the name of company plus the word “scam” before committing.
Always look at the salary. Is it a lot of pay for very little work? Are you being asked to pay for working in any way, shape, or form?
Assume any remote job is a scam (barring jobs that are for highly-specialized positions that require years of experience, and be cautious even then).
