I’m not a traveler at heart.
I’m aware of Booking[.]com, certainly. I also know that there are some issues with compromised business accounts on that site, which makes me wary of booking anything on it. I have used it occasionally to see what airlines fly a particular route, or what hotels are available in a given area.
But when I book anything? In the olden days I used a travel agency. Nowadays, I just book on the airline’s or hotel’s website. I find I tend to get better options and rates that way, and I am a member of several frequent traveler reward programs. (Using the direct website has its own security risks, but less so than a centralized location like Booking.)
If you really need a all-in-one place to book your hotel, car, and flight, I’ve found the airlines are more than happy to provide you with just that. For example, when I looking to book to Toronto last year, Air Canada was more than happy to recommend hotels to me in the city along with my flight. I would not use it myself, but it is an option - and it may keep you off of more dangerous websites.
Apropos of that, I use the common cybersecurity [.] convention on this site for places I don’t want visitors to accidentally click on - this is a static site but sometimes browsers are just a tad too helpful! Also, I am a tiny website operator and don’t wish to deal with cranky giant businesses deciding that I’m smearing them.
