Every blog has to start with a first post. This is the first one for the site I have fondly dubbed as the Calconncet Scam and Phishing Education Pages.
I have a post planned in short order about the most common scam/phish I’m seeing right now. But this post is not that post.
Instead, I’m going to talk about what I hope for here. Right now, I’ve got a front page with a messy list of every category I could think of, and links to the three sections that exist. It’s messy, it’s barely formatted, but it’s there.
I’m going to try to add a new scam or phish type every week. I can’t guarantee it because sometimes my job is tiring, and the last thing I want to do after handling something malicious is talking about something else malicious.
Once I start being able to put together pages, I’m going to be able to put in indexes. My goal is to put in a sidebar for easier navigation. I’m no web designer so it’s going to take a while to make things pretty. I also want this accessible to people using screenreaders or on slow internet connections, so there won’t be a lot of fancy graphics.
I have time, however. It will take time for various site scanners to see that this site has turned from scamming and phishing to education about the same, assuming that the automated scanners don’t see all the examples and think it’s malicious anyway. I’ve worked in the field long enough to know that machine scanning is not the be-all and end-all, and that sometimes humans need to intervene.
